Illusionary magic is a simpler form of magic, divided up into a few different types of illusionary spells. Illusionary Adepts tend to be the most deceptive people of the schools, and are almost a direct contradiction to Divination Adepts. Illusionists are able to detect when illusionary magic is being performed, however if someone is not either a Divination Adept or an Illusionist Adept, then they are far less likely to detect the illusion as fake. Illusionary magic can be broken down into the following areas:
- Figment
- Glamour
- Phantasm
- Pattern
- Shadow
Figment: A figment produces a false sensation. Figments can be perceived by more than just the intended target, rather than personal to any who look on. The figment cannot change an object's appearance or sensory details, but rather can produce the illusion of a sound, sight, or any of the other senses. If speech is used in the figment, then it must be in a language the Illusionary Adept can speak, else the figment will speak in gibberish.
Glamour: A glamour changes an object's sensory qualities, making a smooth surface feel rough or a dim light becoming blindingly bright. It can even make an object seem to disappear, should the Illusionary Adept wish it to. This is percieved by only the intended target, and not everybody around the target including the Illusionary Adept himself/herself.
Phantasm: A phantasm is an Illusionary spell that creates an image/scene in the target's head, meaning it is only visible by the Illusionary Adept and the intended target. Since it is completely in the target's head, third parties cannot notice it at all, and are instead seeing what is really happening: nothing. This can be used to attack one's mind and scar it permanently, as well as create cover for combat purposes.
Pattern: A pattern creates an image that others can see, but it also affects the minds of any who see it. They are mind affecting spells that can induce changes in behavior and even potentially calm or excite another. These are typically done to provide distractions to either senses, or just to stimulate the mind.
Shadow: A shadow spell creates something out of extraplanar energies, creating illusions that can have real effects. One of the most common versions of shadow illusionary spells are "tangible darkness". If something takes damage from a shadow, the damage is real.
